| Sicily Excursion (The Highlights of your Holiday). Visit Pozzallo, Mt. Etna & Taormina|
Tour ta' Malta's sister island of Gozo. After a twenty-minute
ferry crossing, on setting foot in Gozo, one notices that although bothislands
are similar inhistory and development, Gozo has a character entirely of
its own. Gozo, which is a three-hilled island, is greener and more picturesque
than Malta. During our excursion we visit the Azure Window in Dwejra,
the Citadel in Victoria, Xlendi Bay, and Gozo 360°, a multi-media
show which impressively depicts Gozo's history, legends and landscapes.
Free time for shopping will also be given - Gozo is renowned for its woolen
goods and handmade lace.
Gozo
with a difference; as seen during sunset when you can appreciate the serenity
and natural beauty of Malta's sister island. Our guide will unveil the history
about its first inhabitants when we stop at the megalithic temples of Ggantija.
We then tour the ramparts of Victoria where you are surrounded by the colour
of Gozo's hilly countryside. As the day comes to an end we descend to Dwejra,
famous for its hanging Azur Window. Here we capture the last rays of light
as the sun disappears below the horizon. Dinner is served in one of the
island's restaurants before we return to Malta towards midnight.
Excursion
to the south of the island visiting the main fishing village of Marsaxlokk
whose waterfront is lined with 'luzzus' painted in traditional reds, blues
and yellows that add colour to this peaceful bay once the site of the first
Turkish landing during the Great Siege of 1565. On passing through the nearby
village of Birzebbugia, a traditional summer resort for Maltese families we
proceed to the Blue Grotto where you can visit the grottoes from closeby.
(Boat price not include - weather permitting). A photo stop at one of the
local stone quarries is also included.

Mt.
Etna: The largest and most active volcano in Europe. The climb to the
crater takes us through picturesque villages and an ever changing landscape.
The lower slopes of the volcano are extremely fertile with groves of oranges,
lemons and other Mediterranean flora and of course vines which produce Sicily's
best wines. We go through forests of chestnut trees which gradually give
way to oak, beech, birch and pine.
Taormina:
Sicily's prime tourist resort was discovered by the British aristocracy
in the mid 1800's. Facing Etna and the blue Mediterranean, this peaceful
panoramic resort, 206m above sea level was colonized by the Greeks who built
a theatre in the Hellenic period - 3 B.C. The present Teatro Greco, altered
by the Romans, is the venue for classical plays every summer. The main street,
the elegant Corso Umberto, with its cafes, restaurants and boutiques is
a bustle of nationalities.
